MF: I love driving with you.
Me: You do?
MF: Yeah. You actually know where you’re going.
Me: Some of the time, at least.
MF: My ex had a horrible sense of direction. For the first three years after we moved here, every time we got in the car, he’d have to drive by Blow Buddies first to get his bearings.

Oh, gee, that’s the funniest thing I’ve read in days.

March 28th, 2007 at 2:48 amI still get lost in Vancouver, the only thing that saves me is that I know the Mountains are North. Michael, I wanted to tell you how beautiful I thought your short story was in “From Boys To Men.”, but I confess I read it for free on Amazon, and would have bought the book, but I can’t imagine there’s a better story in there than the one you wrote.

Hello there, been following along for years and wanted to say hello.
March 30th, 2007 at 8:24 pmI’ll tell you what: As somebody who had the good fortune to run into MF’s bf at Blow Buddies a couple times, It’s good for the rest of us that he knew where it was.

Hello,
I am new to the world of blogging, less to that of gay blogging. I have started my own blog two weeks ago. It’s gay relationships with a Lebanese perspective.
Cheers from Beirut to all gay bloggers
April 13th, 2007 at 8:23 amIn revisiting your blog, I’m reminded of what a fine writer you’re becoming. (I know that I should say “that you are”; but, you’re getting better every day.) I vaguely remember how I found this site several years ago. Then you disappeared from the blog scene (because of family issues) only to return before heading off to NYC and graduate work at Columbia.
Being a “Curious George” I sometimes take strange journeys on the internet. Today, it started with Lotuslander’s comment, leading to Amazon.com and the excerpt of your writing in “From Boys to Men.” I believe that the excerpt is just that and, therefore, not complete. In any event, it’s good. It suggests that the entire collection would be a worthwhile read.
By way of Lotuslander’s blog, I ended up at “Wikipedia’s” gay, lesbian, and bisexual list of people. In scanning the Y’s, I saw Yi-Fu Tuan. Damn! I never think about a writer’s gender orientation when enjoying a book. But, the listing encouraged a smile; his “Topophilia” is a seminal work in environmental perception, attitudes and values. I should have known that the writer had the “gay” gene.
The challenge, now, is to read his autobiography — “Who Am I?” — possibly adding another dimension to my own identity journey.
Thanks for your commitment as a writer.
