I’m not working on a degree in English or writing a novel, but shouldn’t it be “Joe and me in Belfast”?

See this article for the rules.

I’m glad you two are having fun.

Well, technically “Joe and I in Belfast” is not a full sentence, since there’s no verb. “Joe and I standing in Belfast” would be correct, since we are both subjects and not objects of the sentence. “Joe hitting me in Belfast” would be correct, since Joe is the subject, and I am the object of the sentence. Not that he would ever hit me:)

Oh Michael, I’m so glad you parsed your own caption. I didn’t know what to do when I saw that and thought “shouldn’t that be ‘Joe and me in Belfast.’?” Not that it matters, but I’m of the “Joe and me” camp on this, since it’s not a sentence; “Joe and Me, Belfast” would be even better. As you know, the rule when choosing between “me” or “I” is to take out the other name. Would you say “I in Belfast” if it were just you in the photo? Of course not.

After all that, can I say what a great pic it is? Well, it is. Although with the mural and the newly planted trees, it could just as easily be an alley off Harrison Street.

Oh for God’s sake people, it’s a blog, not the Elements of Style. I’m changing the damn sentence.
